August 26, 2024
For Immediate Release
CALGARY, August 26, 2024 – Today, Global Calgary announced changes to its award-winning lineup of local news. Starting on September 9, viewers will see some familiar faces at new times for its weekday and weekend programming while still delivering the same great coverage.
Dallas Flexhaug moves from mornings to evenings and will anchor Global News at 5 and Global News Hour at 6, joining Joel Senick and Paul Dunphy.
A Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) award winner for coverage of the Fort McMurray floods during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and Global’s 2023 Alberta provincial election special broadcast, Dallas has been a staple in Alberta’s broadcasting landscape for more than a decade and has been on the frontlines of many big new stories across the province and the country.
“I am a born and raised Calgarian and I love this city,” said Dallas Flexhaug. “I’m grateful that I get to serve the community in this new way and after spending almost a decade as the anchor of Global News Morning, I feel ready to take on a new challenge and turn off the 3 a.m. alarm clock! Sleep will be my new best friend along with Joel Senick! See you on Global News at 5 and Global News Hour at 6 where I’ll focus on local news that connects the community, and hopefully share a few laughs along the way.”
Bindu Suri trades in middays for mornings and will now be part of Calgary’s #1 morning show, Global News Morning.
Bindu joined Global Calgary in 2007 and has been part of many live events, including the live broadcast of the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and delivering live press conferences on the evolving COVID-19 pandemic that changed 2020 for everyone around the world.
“I’m truly excited to be given the opportunity to wake up with Calgarians who trust us to deliver the important news of the day,” said Bindu Suri. “I’ve got my early wakeup call already set, and I can’t wait to join Blake Lough on the anchor desk as we navigate busy mornings of news, traffic and weather in the city that I love.”
Veteran reporter and anchor, Tracy Nagai, shifts from Global News Morning Weekend, to weekdays and will now be seen on Global News at Noon with Joel Senick.
Tracy joined Global Calgary in 2009 and has reported on issues and events that matter to Calgarians.
