Welcome back 102-7 The Peak

Today Pattison Media brought The Peak back to the main 102.7 frequency, after almost 2 years as Now radio.

The Peak used to be on air until July 22, 2022 when it was moved to HD-2 in favour of the Vancouver version of Now radio. While a big ratings success in Edmonton, Vancouver never saw the success of the original station. Earlier this year, Now let go of both the morning show of Christy and Fraser and afternoon show Denai Johnson, and they were replaced by Crash and Mars out of Edmonton for mornings and the Rob and Friends show out of 101.5 Today Radio Calgary, for the afternoon show. Midday host Brayden also went to evenings and weekends, with mostly pre-recorded shows, while Jaclyn moved to middays.

Those changes have not really led to higher ratings or more interactions with the station through the app or texting.

Now the plug is being pulled on Now and The Peak is back.

The idea behind flipping back to The Peak and not going to another format is that Sonic is not doing great in the ratings, so The Peak should be able to gain listeners this way.

According to the hosts page at thepeak.fm Jaclyn is mornings and Brayden is afternoons. Both were the last two remaining local hosts at Now.

The change happened at Midnight with the final song on now being The Bitch is Back by Elton John.

The new path led us back to where we started!

Pattison Media is excited to announce that after a 2-year detour and some valuable lessons learned, THE PEAK is back at 102.7 FM as Vancouver’s original Alternative radio station!

THE PEAK, which moved exclusively to streaming and on HD2 in July of 2022, is famous for being the leader for the best Alternative music and for showcasing new and upcoming local and international artists. Now restored to its home on FM at 102.7, while also remaining on HD, THE PEAK will continue with the very best Alternative music from the 2000’s to now. Playlists will include artists like Muse, Green Day, Tame Impala, Coldplay, The Arkells, Death Cab For Cutie, Twenty One Pilots, Metric, Foster The People, and Foo Fighters.

Russell James, Program Director, “THE PEAK’s audience, even though they could only hear us on our stream and HD2 signal, has been impressively dedicated. So many people discovered their new favorite song playing for the first time on 102.7 FM and we want to continue that discovery on the radio and showcasing new bands in THE PEAKLive Lounge!”

Mark Patric, General Manager, “THE PEAK has always been Vancouver’s home of Alternative music. We couldn’t be prouder to bring it back to FM!”

THE PEAK promise to its listeners is more music every hour. When we do stop the music for ads, it will be for no more than 2 minutes. That means MORE of the music you love, every hour!

THE PEAK is for those who are looking for a radio station that will play the best in Alternative music, with hosts who will focus on events, concerts, Vancouver culture, and everything else that makes Vancouver great. We love Alternative music and the West Coast lifestyle! We invite you to listen!

102.7 THE PEAK is locally owned and operated by Pattison Media Ltd along with sister station 93.7 JR Country.
