Could a format change be coming to Toronto’s Indie 88?

1 min read

Indie 88 is teasing a big announcement coming this Wednesday at 8am Toronto time. The station was recently sold and the new owner did say they were committed to the format. However the picture on Instagram that you can see here shows what appears to be cowboy boots. Which would lead to speculation that the station is flipping to a country format.

However there was a job posting for a morning show host to replace Josie Dye who departed for CHUM-FM. Could this announcement be the new morning show host? My money is on a format change. Maybe not to country but at least a format tweak, something to possibly go against Edge better.

Either way we will find out on Wednesday morning.

Turns out it was just a contest to win $10,000. However I have heard that the original plan was supposed to be a format change.

  1. It turned out to be a “be the 88th texter to get a chance at winning $10,000” contest.

Station’s got a bit of a bad habit sometimes of overmarketing what turn out to be relatively minor things; the last time they teased a “major announcement” that had people freaking out about a potential format change, they were just setting up the announcement of a “two-hours commercial free” shift.
