Layoffs at Corus stations
Layoffs have happened at Corus stations across the network.
Mike Bendixen, the program director at 640 Toronto was confirmed to have resigned from his position last day this Friday.
Layoffs appear to be Red, who was at Energy and other stations, Ed Garcia from Power 97 afternoons, Kendra from the Kyle and Kendra morning show at Country 104 London. It appears Kyle is hosting solo. Mark and Taylor from the Fresh morning show in London. Both hosts were heard on other stations. Andrea Taylor at CISN 103.9 Edmonton

I feel bad for all the hosts let go especially so soon after all the Rogers cuts last week. I sincerely hope Corus sells off the stations, either to one or multiple buyers and the new owners can add more staff and turn things around and maybe hire back some of the laid off staff or others. Because sadly we know there are a lot of very talented people that have lost jobs.
Now if the people at Vista, MBC, Stingray and others see this, please buy stations from Corus. All the stations formerly owned by Bell are doing well under new owners, so please lets bring Corus stations back to the glory days that I know they can be still.
This is why I listen to the Corus earnings calls… during the Q3 earnings call, the CEO was saying that they’ll “Continue to streamline operations and manage cost base” I knew layoffs were coming. If I were working for Corus, if there were any layoffs in the radio side, I would ask if there are any more layoffs coming
