Song of the day for Christmas Day

1 min read
Dee Snider wrote a Christmas duet for his wife, but it ended up being recorded by Celine Dion. He agreed on the condition of anonymity, fearing Dion's reaction to the song's origin. Snider discusses this on the Talk Is Jericho podcast. The duet is with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. The song is titled "The Magic of Christmas Day."

Today’s song is a duet between Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider and Halestorm lead singer Lzzy Hale. The song is called The Magic of Christmas Day. This song is technically a cover of the Celine Dion song, but it was written by Dee Snider for his wife Suzette.

Unfortunately, Snider couldn’t sing it as it wasn’t in his range, so he had some studio musicians record his ditty for Suzette. Producer Ric Wake kept a copy and called Snider four years later to tell him Celine Dion wanted to record the song.

Snider agreed as long as nobody revealed his identity, because he feared Dion would change her mind if she discovered the man behind the tune was a controversial rocker. He recalled to the Talk Is Jericho podcast, “The first thing I said was, ‘Does she know who wrote it? Do not tell her Satan wrote a Christmas song! Seriously, dude, just put it on the frigging album.'”
