Corus makes more cuts

Sue Deyell, one half of the QR Calgary morning show posted she was let go.
It wasn’t the Birthday gift I was expecting yesterday, but after 7 years I was let go by Corus Radio. To say I’m broken hearted is an understatement. For 6 of those years, I’ve had the absolute best partner (in crime) on Mornings With Sue And Andy, with our little AM morning show consistently placing in the top 3 in Calgary in our demo! I will miss our amazing family of listeners and my wonderful coworkers.
I’ve been in this industry for 32 years and it’s been an amazing ride – hopefully one that’s not quite over yet! A huge thanks to my mentor and friend John Vos for teaching me how to go from music radio to being (hopefully) a pretty decent Talk Radio Host – but when he retired, he took the heart and professionalism of the place with him. I love this industry but it also makes me sad to see where it’s headed.
Casey-Jo Loos (formerly of The Peak Vancouver) was let go from her afternoon show at Edge Toronto where she transferred over from CFOX Vancouver.
Darryl Law, who had been at Dave FM Kitchener mornings was let go, no word yet on co-hosts Gayle or Jessie.
Another development that was passed on to me was that the company vehicles in Guelph had the 1460 CJOY logos removed. Rumors are swirling that the station could go dark as early as Friday.
If you hear any other names please let me know in the comments.
BIG MISTAKE!!!!!
Will be listening to other stations. You had a good thing going for you and blew it. Hang in there Sue.
Why on earth would you fire Sue from the Sue and Andy. Show. The two were a perfect balance for each other. The shows not the same!
Andy is good as a morning host but when coupled with Sue they were amazing. Started my morning giggling while listening to radio. Not the same now so I’m off to another station. People I know who advertise on your show have said the same thing – listeners leaving the morning show does not help with our advertising budget.
