Frequency Swap in Kitchener/Waterloo

Bounce and Virgin radio are swapping frequencies, July 28 at 9 am. Virgin will now be heard at 99.5 and Bounce will be heard on 105.3

The reason for the change is Bounce will be heard on a much stronger signal, Virgin will be on a smaller signal but with all the shared programming from Virgin London it won’t make a lot of difference for most people as the 97.5 signal can be heard in most of the KW region as it is. Virgin being on a weaker signal will just mean that people will tune into either 97.5 or 99.9 out of Toronto instead for Virgin. But it means even more for Bounce. Bounce used to also be heard on 102.9 Hamilton which was a much stronger signal. But with the sale of that station and the subsequent name change to Legend, Bell has not had the advertising revenue for Bounce. Being heard now on 105.3 will mean that the station can be heard as far away as Toronto, Owen Sound, London and even Windsor at times.

I believe that the reason this move is happening now, is because Bell agreed to not compete with any of the stations it sold for a minimum of 12 months. Being on the 99.5 signal in Kitchener/Waterloo, that signal wouldn’t reach Hamilton, or the surrounding areas due to a Buffalo station on the same frequency.
