Wayne Webster of Boom Toronto to retire
After a 48 year career Wayne Webster, the music director of Boom 97.3 Toronto is set to retire.
He started his career as an intern on Q107 in 1977. He landed a full-time job as Music Director at CHUM FM starting in 1979 until 1987. He then joined CKFM (Later Mix 99.9) as Music Director and Assistant Program Director. He held that job for 21 years before landing at EZ Rock in 2007. He returned to Virgin Radio (formerly CKFM). But then returned to Boom in 2009 where he has been ever since.
According to his Linkedin profile he also was Music Director at Iceberg Radio on SiriusXM from 2005-2011.
He has had a legendary career and he gets to retire on his terms which is a rarity in radio.
