89X returns to Windsor
As expected today marked the relaunch of 89X in Windsor.
Last Monday August 18, Pure Country 89 Windsor parted ways with morning host Nathan Carr and afternoon host Chris Byrne. The speculation of a format change came when Bell Media (owner of the station) created job postings for the morning and afternoon drive shows and the job postings only listed the call letters of the station with zero mention of the named of the station. So that started the speculation of the format changing.
Then on Monday of this week there had been zero on air staff and announcements between songs airing in Spanish. The announcements were teasing to keep listening at 8:08 am on the 28th day of the 8th month. Immediately speculation swirled of a return of 89X.
The internet sleuths determined that the reason for the Spanish was because the first and last song played on the original 89X was a song called Stop by Jane’s Addiction. The beginning of the song contains a spoken segment in Spanish with these words, Señores y señoras
Nosotros tenemos más influencia con sus hijos que tú tiene, pero los queremos
Creado y regado de Los Angeles, Juana’s Addicción. The translation of that is Ladies and gentlemen, We have more influence with your children than you do, but we love them. Created and spread by Los Angeles, Juana’s Addiction.
There has been one of the announcements in between songs that was in English and it is the English translation of that song.
Also as of Wednesday the 89X Facebook page has added the tease of a return.
Final songs on Pure Country
The Gambler – Kenny Rogers
Hurt – Johnny Cash
Personal Jesus – Johnny Cash
Rusty Cage – Johnny Cash
The Man Comes Around – Johnny Cash
The first song played this morning on the relaunched 89X was of course Stop by Jane’s Addiction.
