gets a salute after his final broadcast. He moved to Seattle from LA in
1991, working as a talk show host on KIRO Radio and TV beginning in

owner Rich Elwood passed away Thursday at age 67. He was an entrepreneur

CBC broadcast veteran Robin Piercey died November 18 at age 84. He
worked for the Corporation in Newfoundland, Ottawa, Vancouver and
Toronto. He was twice at CBC Vancouver, heading up the newsroom and
later as west coast manager of the western provinces. In 1990 he joined
the British Columbia Institute of Technology to fill in for the Dean of
Journalism who was on sabbatical, and then served the next eleven years

CBC Vancouver Script Assistant and Continuity Person Sally Gardner
passed away November 20 at age 75. Her husband was former CBC Vancouver TV
producer Derek Gardner. Sally was diagnosed at age 36 with early onset
Parkinson's Disease and managed it for 39 years. There will be no
service at her request, but there may be some small remembrances later.

11/20/21 - CBC British Columbia will hold its 35th annual Open House and Food Bank Day
on December 3rd. Once again it will be virtual with special broadcasts
and digital Meet and Greets with CBC hosts and personalities. Last year

carriage agreement. The new deal keeps Sinclair’s 144 local stations,

11/15/21 - Former Vancouver broadcaster and executive Bill Hughes has died at age 96. He hosted over 15,000 episodes of Roving Mike on CKNW
from 1950-94 and was GM & then President from 1965-77. The family

a change of Community of Licence for KZTM-FM 102.9. The COL
change re-licensed the prior Centralia station to McKenna, WA. Bustos
acquired the former KFNY outlet for US $3 million back in 2019 in the
Ocean State Trust II divestiture process. Bustos Media's full intentions
became public on August 11, when the corporation filed a modification
to move the transmitter site to the Olympic Peninsula, co-located with
the proposed KJET Union buildout. The new location will provide a 60 dBu

Vancouver broadcaster Wilf Ray passed away July 11th at age 94. He
started his lengthy radio career at CKMO in 1944. Ray later hosted a
Sunday night gospel program from 1965 to 2008, first on CJOR, then on

broadcasters in Canadian radio. He also served as Director of Corporate

community of license to Kent for KKDZ AM 1250. The new transmitter
location is the old KMIA AM 1210 night site just east of Auburn. The
site was purchased last year by Sukhdev Dhillon, who also purchased the
transmitter site for KMIA. The KMIA Site was approved by the FCC for the
new location of KZIZ AM 1560, which will be diplexed with KMIA.
According to Dhillon, he plans to construct the 1250 and 1560 facilities

afternoon at his home at age 83. He was with CBC for 25 years as a
reporter, foreign correspondent, producer and host, later becoming a
Senior Associate with media communications company Stanton Associates.
Cathcart was very active in the community, including serving as Chair of
the Vancouver Remembrance Day Committee for 15 years. He received

According to an internal email sent to staff from Bell management and

Radio’s Chief Engineer for Alberta South after 48 years in radio. He was
CE for CKLG AM/FM Vancouver for almost 30 years, until joining Newcap

KWPZ-FM Lynden morning co-host and Operations Manager Jim Bouma died
unexpectedly Tuesday at age 61. A cause of death hasn’t been announced.

an application by the CBC to change the authorized contours of CBU-2-FM
88.1 Vancouver, a rebroadcasting transmitter of CBU AM 690 Vancouver
(Radio One), by increasing the maximum ERP from 97,600 to 99,432 watts
and decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain

contours of French-language station CBUX-FM 90.9 Vancouver (ICI
Musique)
by increasing the maximum ERP from 2,790 to 2,930 watts and increasing

1/15/21 - The Bull KNUC-FM 98.9 Seattle adds syndicated The Bobby Bones Show in mornings, replacing Fitz, who left last month. The station has
been filling in with Country artist guest hosts for the last few weeks.

(he was one of the "originals" that was laidoff when BCE bought CHUM),
joining Global BC in 2006. Patton will be moving to Vernon following his

broadcaster and concert promoter Dick Curtis, who died December 26 in

December 13 at age 75 from complications following lung surgery. He
