1/29/21 - Veteran KOMO News Seattle broadcaster Elisa Jaffe has announced she has breast cancer, but it was discovered early. She is urging others not to postpone mammograms. Elisa joined KOMO in 1987 and has been a field reporter, TV news anchor, host and executive producer of KOMO's daily television talk show Northwest Afternoon, morning host on KVI AM 570 and currently anchors drive time on KOMO News Radio. KNKX-FM 88.5 Tacoma

1/29/21 - KNKX-FM 88.5 Tacoma/ Seattle is one of five non-profit jazz stations to receive grants totaling more than $1.3 million to participate in a collaborative new program to strengthen jazz radio and its engagement with artists and diverse audiences. Each will receive grants of up to $275,000 over three years from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to support their involvement in the collective, and supply them with core support and innovation capital.  Erik Hanberg, KNKX

1/28/21 - Rob Nason celebrates 50 years teaching well over 1,000 students as a Television Production Instructor at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Many of them are working at various stations throughout BC. Marrett Green

1/28/21 - Charges have been laid against former Vancouver broadcaster Marrett Green following an altercation at a Vancouver courthouse involving a man who allegedly refused to wear a mask and got physical with police, leaving one officer with a broken leg. Green was a news anchor at CKVU-TV (then branded UTV) Vancouver from 1994-99.  CTV News

1/28/21 - Vancouver-based May Lam has been promoted by Bell Media from Regional Marketing Manager, Western Canada to Operations Manager and Manager of Marketing & Promotions, Local Radio & TV. She has been with Bell Media since 2014 and previously held a number of promotions and marketing roles in Vancouver.

Pulse CISF-FM 107.7 Surrey

1/28/21 - Engineer David Youell has moved Pulse CISF-FM 107.7 Surrey into a new control room, which is part of a larger system that will eventually have four on air controls rooms, two production rooms, two edit/ voice track/ production rooms and a large news room. The back bone of the system is in two equipment rooms.  The system is based on a Wheatstone Wheatnet AOIP digital network. 1/26/21 - Numerous postings on Facebook are acknowledging the passing of Vancouver news anchor John Copsey, who died Monday, one day before his 54th birthday. He spent seven years as news anchor/ reporter at CJOB Winnipeg before moving west to join CKWX Vancouver. 1/26/21 - The Seattle Kraken has announced a multiyear agreement with ROOT SPORTS, making the regional network their television home in the Pacific Northwest. 1/23/21 - C89.5 KNHC-FM Seattle, operated by Seattle Public Schools, and named for its Nathan Hale High School, celebrates 50 years on-air January 25. PD J.B. 1/23/21 - Former Vancouver radio sales manager Alan Anaka died January 14 at age 85. He had a very successful career at CKLG, CJOR and CKNW before taking the position of Sales Manager at CHQR Calgary, where he later became President. 1/22/21 - The British Columbia Association of Broadcasters has recognized Vancouver radio host Stirling Faux with entry into its Half Century Club. 1/21/21 - Former Vancouver radio engineer Greg Jardine is retiring as Stingray Radio’s Chief Engineer for Alberta South after 48 years in radio. He was CE for CKLG AM/FM Vancouver for almost 30 years, until joining Newcap Radio Calgary following the sale of the Vancouver stations.

1/21/21 - Long-time Praise 106.5 KWPZ-FM Lynden morning co-host and Operations Manager Jim Bouma died unexpectedly Tuesday at age 61. A cause of death hasn’t been announced. Bouma was a 40-year veteran with the station.  Calvin Bratt, Lynden Tribune

1/19/21 - Former Vancouver sports broadcaster Dave Randorf credits his earlier gig with Sports Page for his success and new job as the television play-by-play voice of the Tampa Bay Lightning. 1/18/21 - CTV Vancouver executive Les Staff has left his position with the station. He now lists himself as "Former, Director of News and Information, CTV News Vancouver" on his LinkedIn page. Staff joined CTV Vancouver as an executive producer in 2007, becoming ND in 2012.
 
Bobby Bones

1/15/21 - The Bull KNUC-FM 98.9 Seattle adds syndicated The Bobby Bones Show in mornings, replacing Fitz, who left last month. The station has been filling in with Country artist guest hosts for the last few weeks. Bones will air from 5 - 9 a.m. weekdays beginning January 19th.  All Access Music Group

Darrell Patton

1/12/21 - Global BC ENG Videographer  Darrell Patton is retiring this Friday, January 15 as he turns 65. He previously worked at Citytv (he was one of the "originals" that was laidoff when BCE bought CHUM), joining Global BC in 2006. Patton will be moving to Vernon following his last day at work this Saturday.

1/05/21 - An obituary has been published for legendary KJR and KOL Seattle broadcaster and concert promoter Dick Curtis, who died December 26 in Olympia at age 87. KING 5 Home Team Harvest

1/04/21 - The 20th year of the KING 5 Seattle annual Home Team Harvest food drive raised more meals for Northwest Harvest than ever before. Funds and donations were collected from mid-October through the end of 2020. A total of 23,552,116 meals were raised, nearly tripling the number of meals raised in 2019.  KING 5 News
