Corus will abandon talk on FM

1 min read

In a move that should surprise nobody, once Corus pulled the application for its simulcast of talk radio on FM, it was announced they would launch a music based format at 107.3 by the end of July.

I was told by a source within Corus that they couldn’t make it work on both AM and FM. As much as they tried, ratings never improved and they never improved past where the former Q107 was. I had sources within the station itself telling me that ratings were the best they ever had been, but combined between the AM/FM station they were still less then Q was.

Word from within Calgary is that the format coming will most likely be a BIG FM station with shows from out of market. I guess we will see at the end of July what the station turns into.
