Something never before seen in Seattle TV…a newscast attached to an anchor’s name.

1 min read

It’s now being called ‘King 5 News at 5 with Joyce Taylor.’

She’s a longtime anchor in the market, including KIRO-TV, and has had multiple male co-anchor’s in the past.

Usually this is seen only on the major U.S. news network programs like ABC World News Tonight with David Muir.

  1. Actually, I can think of one previous instance of a Seattle newscast incorporating an anchor’s name in the title. Back when Aaron Brown was still in Seattle before he went national with ABC News, he and longtime local anchor Gary Justice briefly ci-anchored the “Justice/Brown Report” newscast on Channel 7.

  2. Kind of a Huntley-Brinkley knock off, I guess and way before my time. But a single name attached to a newscast has a lot more weight to me. And it’s an era now where anchors aren’t even valued much on the local level. Thanks for writing.
