Rob Christie returns to radio

Renowned Canadian broadcast personality, Rob Christie, is returning to radio as the new morning show host for Fort Saskatchewan's Mix 107.9, starting November 1. Christie, an award-winning broadcaster, previously hosted highly-rated morning shows across Canada and has won the Best Comedy/Humour Morning Show at the New York Festivals International Radio Awards.

Starting November 1 Rob Christie is returning to radio, He is the new morning show host at Fort Saskatchewan’s Mix 107.9.

From a Heartlandnews.ca article: We’ve got a new voice hitting the airwaves on MIX 107.9 – Canadian broadcast legend Rob Christie.

Christie will be hosting the morning show from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. after returning from several years of retirement.

“When you’ve been in radio as long as I have, it’s a part of your reason for being. It’s your happy place,” said Christie. “You just love talking to people, entertaining them, informing them, and having fun with them.”

“I’m really grateful for this opportunity.”

Christie is an award-winning broadcaster, even winning Best Comedy/Humour Morning Show at the New York Festivals International Radio Awards. He’s also had a record of hosting highly rated morning shows in Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.

You may recognize Christie’s voice as he has appeared in many stations throughout Edmonton, including 630 CHED, Power 92, Magic 99, and 96.3 Capital FM.

Christie hopes to use his position to uplift in his corner.

“There’s such strife and conflict with the war in Ukraine and now this terrible thing going on in Israel,” said Christie. “There’s a real need for this music now, because it’s joyful and it reminds us of what’s really important in our lives.”

Christie will be making his debut on MIX 107.9 on the morning of November 1.

Previous stops on his great career started with

CXXL radio Calgary as PM drive and morning host from Feb 1972 – Nov 1974, Then at CKGM Montreal from 1975-1978 as afternoon show host, May 1986 – November 1994 he hosted mornings on CHED Edmonton before transitioning to Power 92-FM in 1992, Nov 1994 until December 1999 he was at Mix 99 Toronto, then from May 2000 until Aug 2003 he was the morning show on 97 Kiss FM Vancouver and Jack FM Vancouver before going back to Toronto to join Jack 92.5 mornings from Sept 2003 to September 2005, Nov 2005 – August 2008 he was the morning show host and Programming and sales consultant at Magic 99 Edmonton. Finally before his retirement he was at Capital 96.3 Edmonton from September 2008 to February 2018. His retirement was short lived. Only about 5.5 years but now he is back!! Congratulations Rob.

Also of note, Mix 107.9 is the first station to launch all Christmas music starting this morning with Rob Christie.
