Terri Smolar   Terri Smolar

Smolar, Terri Rose  1948 – 2016

Terri passed peacefully on March 29th after defying cancer for 14 years.  Born in Stephenville Nfld., she graduated from Memorial University. She worked variously as a reporter with the CBC, Program Head of Journalism at BCIT, Manager with ICBC, BC Lottery Corp. and the Open Learning Agency and the Coordinator of the PR program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Survived by her husband, Stephan and daughter Leah. Mourned by siblings Cindy, Laura, Paula, Mike, Herb, and Kevin, and cousins Si, Mary-Jane, Ilana (Travis) and Daniel (Shardae). Terri was an educator, writer, voracious reader, and storyteller extraordinaire, always interested in current events, and never hesitant to express her opinion. She lived for boating trips with friends on the BC coast.  A celebration of life will follow at a later date. Many thanks to the staff of the Burnaby Hospital Regional Cancer Center for years of very compassionate care.
